For example parcels worth less than 5000 KSH ($50 USD) are free of charge. Those at 5,000-70,000 KSH ($50-$700 USD) are charge 500 KSH ($5 USD) fee and so forth. Taxes and duties vary by type of commodity.

It is prohibited to import the following commodities into Kenya: alcohol, plants and seeds, pornography, illicit narcotics, political literature, communist propaganda, ivory, wildlife trophies, altered maps, and stationary or blank envelopes.  Hazardous materials are prohibited from importation into Kenya and may include: acids, batteries, biological products, chemicals, corrosives, cosmetics, dangerous goods, flammables, gases, ice, infectious substances, liquids, magnets, oxidizers, paints, perfume, poisons, radioactive material, or toiletries.

Parcel documents delivering to Kenya

Shipments with a value over $500 USD are required to provide an Import Declaration Form (IDF) from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). This should be done before the shipment arrives. If the form is not filed by the time the parcel is sent, then it can be done at an additional cost. Those wishing to receive tax and duty relief from preferential trading partners should submit a standard declaration with the parcel. The declaration includes a certificate of origin and a commercial invoice.
