If a shipper imports multiple shipments that have a combined value of over $2,000 or 50 kilograms, they will still be subject to formal clearance procedures. In fact shipments of this nature that are not consolidated are penalized with a fine according to carrier laws. If the duties and taxes have not been paid within two days of
inspection the courier is liable for late payment fees and they will release the shipment to Equadorian authorities.

After 15 days a letter can be issued to the district manager requesting the release of the shipment.
