In Albania international trade is administered by the Directorate General of Customs (DGC). Customs is a subordinate branch of the Ministry of Finances. Customs tariffs are based on the Harmonized System of trade. Each commodity is assigned a specific code number. Taxes range from 0 to 15% depending on the type of goods. Albania is party to numerous trade agreements that allow for preferential treatment towards duties for certain countries.

Security concerns when shipping parcels to Albania

It is prohibited to import the following commodities into Albania: illicit narcotics, weapons and explosivves, meat and plants, counterfeit goods or currency, pornography, and products made in Iran. Hazardous materials are prohibited from importation into Albania and may include: acids, batteries, biological products, chemicals, corrosives, cosmetics, dangerous goods, flammables, gases, ice, infectious substances, liquids, magnets, oxidizers, paints, perfume, poisons, radioactive material, or toiletries.

Parcel documents delivering to Albania

To ship commercial imports into Albania it is necessary to acquire a company license and a NIPT tax number registration. The freight should be accompanied by an original certificate of origin. The certificate should contain the shipper's signature in original ink. It should be issued by the chamber of commerce and have
an original watermark or seal. Included with the certificate should be a detailed description of the goods entailed. An import declaration (SAD import) is required for all shipments valued at over 10,000 Lek.
